Steve is the consummate coach and teacher. He founded Showcase Baseball in 1998 and over the years he has developed a systematic approach towards teaching kids to play baseball that educates them about the game and optimizes their skills.
His teams have produced multiple Division I college players over the years and his teams have excelled as a group on the field. Steve’s programs have provided expert instruction across multiple age groups over the years.
His teams have excelled as a group. Their accomplishments in recent years include:
- 2012 – 14U qualified for the Elite World Series, a USSSA national tournament held in Florida
- 2011 – 12U qualified for National Tournament in Cooperstown, NY and went 6-1, seeding 7th out of 95 teams.
- 2011 – 13U won Triple Crown Sports regional tournament in Arizona during Spring Training. 24 teams.
- 2010 – Won 75% of all games in 2010 across multiple age groups from 11-14
Former Division I college pitcher at Dakota State with a 94 MPH fastball. Kris grew up in the Sacramento area, where he starred for Highlands High School in the late 1990s, earning All League as a shortstop. Over the last several years he has been providing expert pitching and hitting instruction with multiple travel ball teams, including Showcase Baseball and Hanks Bombers. Kris brings a love and passion for both the game of baseball and teaching it to today’s youth. A proud father of 2 boys of his own, he has the unique ability to relate to kids on a very personal level with his calm demeanor, good natured outlook, and patience.
Rich Coates’s teaching imparts a calm confidence to his students. He installs a desire to work hard and respect the game of baseball. His approach not only prepares players for the next level of baseball, but more importantly the game of life. Rich currently coaches the varsity at Antelope High School. He also has two high level players in his own children.
He now brings his vast experience and teaching skills to our program.
Joey Fox began his high school career at Roseville High where he played varsity for 3 years. He was a left handed pitcher, 1st baseman and lead off hitter. He lead the SFL his senior in IP (88), ERA (0.91) and stolen bases with 48 in 34 games. After high school, he played 1 year at Sierra college where he pitched well enough to earn an athletic scholarship to Lambuth University in Jackson, TN. Joey pitched 1 year for Lambuth and went 10-1 with a 1.86 ERA until a shoulder injury and a subsequent 2nd rotator cuff surgery cut his baseball career short. Joey has been a youth travel coach now for 5 years and is dedicated to teaching kids how to play the game the right way. He came to Showcase in July of 2010 and is proud to call Showcase his coaching home.
Chris Raulinaitis :
Born and raised in Sacramento, CA. Chris has been highly involved with baseball throughout his whole life. Attended Christian Brothers high School, where he was an all-league baseball player his junior and senior year. After high school Chris went on to play college baseball at Sacramento City College. Upon completing his two years at Sacramento City College, Chris was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2004 MLB amateur draft. Chris played four minor league seasons until he separated his shoulder. After his playing days Chris has been coaching baseball at Christian Brother’s high school, and has been a huge figure in the improvement of River Park Youth Little League.
